What did they use?

Have you ever been to a website you admired and wondered what kind of tools and frameworks they were using to make their site?  There’s a great website that will look around for you and let you know.  It is called builtwith.com and it is a snap to use.  Just enter the domain you are curious about and it will tell you how “opitimized” the site is, what frameworks they are using, if there is popular blog software underneath, etc.

Wrong Aspect Ratio in Final Cut Pro

Sometimes working with 16:9 aspect ratios can cause problems, especially when moving video from Final Cut Pro to iDVD. The problem seems to be from exporting to Quicktime from FCP. If a video that should be 16:9 comes out as 4:3 after export, I have a little trick for fixing it.

Open the file in Quicktime.
Hit cmd-j
Click on “Video Track”
UNCHECK “Preserve Aspect Ratio”
Change “Scaled Size” from 720 x 480 to 853 x 480
Press the “Return” key
Close the window and [...]

Oh, Larry!

Here’s a pretty funny clip I just saw on the Daily Show.  Just when you think Larry King is starting to lose relevance in our culture, he always seems to have an ace up his sleeve.

I’m Back

Sadly, my blog database got blasted during an upgrade.  I backed up the database but I’m having trouble re-using it.  But, in the mean time, a fresh WordPress install and a new theme design means I’m Back.  Blogging is good for the soul.

lost 3 hrs worth of encoding because iDVD puts up a dialogue box with 1 option: cancel. All it takes is an accidental bump of the spacbar. #
