I saw this at a local produce/import store the other day. They usually have a lot of near-eastern fare, but this gem comes from Argentina. I think this probably offends the sensibilities of most Americans. If an American company had this for a logo they wouldn’t last long before civil rights activists were outside their office demonstrating and calling for boycotts.

The product is the wrapping for empanadas. My wife who lived in Argentina immediately recognized the packaging. So why does this get a pass in Argentina. Is there not a large enough black community there? (African-Argentines?) Is it because there isn’t the same history of black slavery in Argentina? I don’t get it.

I drove by Saddleback Church today and there were all kinds of sheriff’s deputies and barricades around the entrances. Barack Obama and John McCain will soon be arriving for a forum. The event will be broadcast on KDOC-TV, but you wouldn’t know it from their website. They have paid programming listed at 5pm.

KDOC is a UHF station that is carried on different channels depending which cable or satellite provider you have. Over the air it is channel 56. On Cox it is channel 12 (or 25 in some places). Anyway, good luck finding it.
