Have you ever been to a website you admired and wondered what kind of tools and frameworks they were using to make their site? There’s a great website that will look around for you and let you know. It is called builtwith.com and it is a snap to use. Just enter the domain you are curious about and it will tell you how “opitimized” the site is, what frameworks they are using, if there is popular blog software underneath, etc.
It can’t tell you everything, since only so much is revealed in the HTML output of any given page, but there are hints and builtwith.com knows what to look for. It is a nice little tool if you are curious what others are using. I was surprised to learn that techcrunch.com is a WordPress blog.
